I have some information regarding King Charlie Chestnut & Neelie/Nellie Gay. This comes from Beth Gay's The Descendants of Simon Gay.
King Charlie Chesnutt, son of Joseph D. Chesnutt and Lucey P. Earnest. Born 9 April 1881, in Decatur Co., GA. Died, 28 June 1964, in Perry, GA. Burial: 30 June 1964, in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Moultrie, Colquitt Co., GA. Occupation: Farmer.
He married Nellie/Nealie Gay 10 June 1906, in Kingwood, GA. Nellie/Nealie was born 12 July 1887, in Colquitt Co., GA. Died, 8 Mar 1971, in Perry, GA. Burial: 10 March 1971, in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Moultrie, Colquitt Co., GA.
Their Children:
Fred Ira Chesnutt. Born, 11 Aug 1907. Died, 18 Mar 1983. He married Ollie Mae Hall, 28 Aug 1926.
Howard Miles Chestnut.
Lester Richardson Chestnut.
Lee Gilford Chesnutt.
King Charlie Chesnutt Jr. Born 10 Aug 1920. Died, 12 Nov 1922.
Milton Newell Chesnutt.
Susie Frances Chesnutt. Born, 19 May 1931. She married Jerrymire Young Hancock, 17 May 1948.
