GA Roberts DNA test matches

Iím the owner of the GeorgiaRoberts group on yahoo.com. For the past several weeks, the group has been doing DNA testing on some of our members and comparing the results to others already on file. I am happy to make this announcement.

According to the DNA results, we have confirmed that the following Robertses are related.

Robert Roberts of Burke and Montgomery Cos., GA
Frederick Roberts of Burke and Laurens Cos., GA
Drewry/Drury Roberts of Burke and Laurens Cos., GA
Graystock Roberts Sr of Burke Co., GA (not to be confused with his nephew, Gray Stock Roberts Sr of Burke, Ware and Coffee Cos., GA)
Reuben Roberts of Kershaw Co., SC and Jones Co., GA

While we currently do not have information on the exact relationship of these men, we do believe that they may be brothers. Sometime in the near future, we hope to have them narrowed down a common ancestor through the DNA testing already done.

All these men were born in Virginia between 1750 and 1765. There are two additional men we think are brothers of the above men, John Roberts born 1762 in SC, and William Roberts, birth info unknown. The John Roberts is reported to be a known brother of Drewry/Drury Roberts. William is only suspected due to his similar migration pattern and land dealings with some of the above Robertses.

With the lack of descendants of John and William, we are currently moving on to the Emanuel Co., GA Robertses. We have volunteers from Thomas Jefferson Roberts, born GA in 1808, and Eli Roberts lines.

If anyone is interested in participating in the groupís DNA research, please let me know. My email is landlisa@yahoo.com

The DNA testing is not limited to the Robertses listed above. Anyone who had Roberts ancestors who lived in GA for any length of time may participate. To participate, the volunteer must be a male Roberts descendant and descended from a male Roberts ancestor through the male line only.

If anyone is interested, please contact me for more information.

Lisa
