States: Georgia: Cobb
My Great-great-great-grandmother was Jane Langford Wade. She was born March 7, 1802 in GA. She married William Wade Jan. 17, 1826 in Walton, GA. They had three children, John W. Wade, James Wade, and my 2nd great-grandmother, Mary Jane Wade. They are found in the 1840 Cobb County census. Jane died, or should I say was murdered, April 20, 1850. Her husband William Wade is found in the Cobb County Jail on the 1850 census, August, for poisoning his wife, listed directly beneath him is a Mary Wade, in jail for the same crime. I do not know if this Mary is someone he married after poisoning Jane, or if she is a sister, cousin, or sister in law of his. I do know that he also died in 1850, so it must have occured between August of 1850 and December of 1850. I suspect he was put to death for Janes murder. I have contacted the Cobb County library in hopes of obtaining information, and they were very helpful but told me that most records were destroyed when Atlanta was burned during the civil war. I live in New Jersey, so it is not possible for me to search the court houses. If anyone has any information on this family, or point me in the right direction to research it on my own, I would be most appreciative. You may contact me directly at Bch93@aol.com. Thank you for your time.
