This may be the Marion you show in the 1870 census, but I think this part of Fulton County was called "Campbell County" in those days.It was just south of Cobb & Paulding, There were other Garretts nearby in Lithis Springs. Two or Three were Doctors. I don't know any more. I simply saw your post and looked it up based on memory.
