I enjoyed reading your message about Robert De Mario. My mother also worked for him - maybe late 50s, early 60s? She loved making the jewelry, and made several pieces for herself. I still have a necklace, 2 pins and a pair of clip on earrings.
I understand that there have been some ladies in Ft. Gaines recently trying to get information about the factory and those who worked there.
The work was very tedious, stringing seed pearls onto tiny wires that were fastened to the filigree backs. Her eyes would get tired doing the work, but she enjoyed describing how ornate the pieces were that she was working on.
I've been looking online to find some his jewelry, and there's not very much out there. Interestingly, it seems that every piece I look at is different. Do you know if every piece was one-of-a-kind?
