Hi, Dirk,

The reference book I have is an index-type listing of the marriages from 1803-1909 which are recorded in Marriage Books A - L at the Clarke County, GA courthouse.

The book lists the names of bride and groom, marriage date, and the book and page number where the actual record resides.

I find a listing for Alexander Veal who married Sarah Ann Godfrey on December 5, 1839, with the marriage recorded in Book C, page 13.

To have a copy of that record, you would probably need to write to the appropriate office at the Clarke County courthouse, giving book and page number, or go to an LDS Family Research Center and order the microfilm.

Hope this helps.
