I am researching this same family. John & Elizabeth also had a son named Samuel (b. 1795). Samuel and my ancestor, Charles, were at the same place, at the same time, on at least two occassions; Morgan County, GA, 1825 and before; and 1840 Chambers County, AL. Samuel was in MS by 1850 and Charles stayed in Chambers County. I suspect they were brothers; just can't document the relationship. Although, a descendant of Samuel, and I, have a perfect Y-DNA match.

I probed (via mail) the Guardianship Records of Clarke County, GA; one dated 1814, and the other, 1820. There are some inconsistencies from one record to the other. You would expect there to be Probate records, but I have been told there are none.
