WHERE DID THE OCONEE RIVER FORK IN THE EARLY 1800'S IN CLARKE CO GA?

Would anyone know where the Oconee River forked in the 1790's? Is it the same location as now? Is there a town near that area so I can try and find it on the map? Solomon Ray owned land wehre the Oconee River forked in the early 1800's. I am trying to find the location where his land was>
