The 1821 GA Land Lottery contains the following entry:
County Mil.Dist. Lot & Sec. Drew Land
Jones, Robert A. Clarke Browns 195/4 Henry
I know this means that Robert A. Jones, then residing in Clarke Co. drew land identified as lot 195 in section 4 in the new Henry Co. I also knew that this land very soon was reidentified as being in Fayette Co.
I am not sure if the notation of Browns military district refers to Jones's then residence in Clarke or to the location on the land he drew in Henry/Fayette.
Can anyone help?
