Red Men group from late 1800's

In an obituary from 1891 for Crum Adams of Clarke county, there was reference to him being a well know person and a member of the RED MEN. His burial ceremony was handled by the RED MEN. I cannot find any reference to that group anywhere. Just looking to find out what they were.
Thanks
Al Adams
