First mention is Seaborn Jones, listed as a juror for Cherokee County, as selected in May 1833 to serve in August 1833. Seaborn Jones also appears as a private in Company F during the Civil War (this would appear to be a younger Seaborn than the juror).

There are many other Jones mentioned, but the people with the names you ask about seem to date from the early 1900's.

By the way, do you have any record of an Eliza Jones born ca. 1817? My ancestor, a Sharp, married her but I cannot find out anything about her parentage. She was not necessarily b. in Cherokee (spouse Sharp was born in the Carolinas) but she died there in 1903.

Thanks.
