David B. and Nancy FOSTER, 1860

My great-great-grandparents, David B. and Nancy FOSTER, were recorded in the 1860 Chattahoochee Co. census, living in Cusetta. His occupation was listed as "ferryman." I cannot find them anywhere in the 1850 census, nor can I find out over which body of water he operated a ferry. Would it have been the Upetoi Creek? Or, is Cusetta close enough to the Chattahoochee River that he could have operated a ferry there? He joined the Confederate Army in Columbus, Muscogee Co. in April, 1861, was captured by the enemy in Dec. 1863, and died in the Yankee prison in Rock Island, IL in Feb. 1864.

Nancy and her 3 children were in Stewart Co. in 1870 and 1880, but I have not been able to ascertain why they were in Chattahoochee Co. in 1860...had they both lived in Muscogee Co. prior to Chattahoochee's formation?

If anyone has any information regarding this family, I would appreciate very much their sharing it with me.
