CHATHAM COUNTY, GA

My g-mother, Georgia Savannah (or Georgie Savannie)was born in Savannah GA o/a 1875) Her parents were William Hannibal Howard and Adeline Selph. Family history shows they she married a "Mr" Gormley (that is the only term she ever used to refer to him. Two weeks before she was scheduled to birth her first child, Gormley beat her. Waiting till he fell into a drunken sleep, she packed the saddlebags, a carpetbag and rode west. This was sometime before 1900. She appears in the 1910 census for Oklahoma as the spouse of Mr. James Britton Segroves (only 1 of 40+ variant spellings). Her first son, whom my G-father adopted was named Jesse (or Jessie). She gave birth to 8 other children 5 boys, 3 girls in both Love and Garvin counties. Any information would be most appreciated.
