Dear Ms. Bell:
Upon reading your query regarding Warren Candler Hospital and Dr. Oscar Lott, I decided to respond. I do not know if you have already obtained the pictures and information that you search; but I do have a couple of suggestions to try if you have not obtained the information. Warren Candler Hospital used to be in downtown Savannah at the intersection of Abercorn Street and Gaston Street. It was a large hospital and covered many blocks along Abercorn Street. It is now situated along DeRenne Street in Savannah and I think that if you were to speak to someone there, perhaps in the community/public relations dept. that they may be able to provide a picture of the old hospital. You may wish to contact also the Savannah Medical Association, and they may be able to give you information regarding Dr. Lott and the old Warren Candler Hospital. Also, you may wish to speak with someone at Georgia Historical Society on Whitaker Street in Savannah about the history of the row houses on Gaston Street and the other information you seek. I was born and grew up in Savannah, and while I usually keep a Savannah telephone directory I cannot locate it at the present time. The Internet should bring up the telephone numbers of the Candler Memorial Hospital, Savannah Medical Association and the Georgia Historical Society. I wish you luck in locating the information that you seek and I hope that you and your family have a happy holiday season and new year ahead.
Carole H. Melson, Marietta, Georgia USA.
