I think it was given the name by the man who owned the filling station/country store over eighty years back when Hwy 16 was a dirt road. But I'm not sure. My Dad would have known as he taught school at Clem and was an RFD mail carrier in that part of the county in the '20s.

The only person I know of still living who might know is Forrest Bates who still lives in Clem on Highway 16. His family owned a filling station/store at Clem. If you have a Carrollton phone book he may be in it. If not, I will try to find out and send it to you by e-mail.
