Storey (mother) 9-28-1872/9-17-1958 That is all the listings for "Storey/Story" in the cemetary book. From the "Carroll County Marriages: 1828-1980", there are about two dozen listings, including: John T. Story m. Lee (or Lou) D. Killian 11-13-1871. From the 1860 C.C. Census (4th District, Rotherwood): #54: Betsy Story, 48, b. in SC (all children b. in GA) Mary J., 22, Rachel E., 14, William J., 16, John T., 12. At #72 of this district is George W. Story and Mary Story is at #73. (George W. Story is in the 1870 Carroll County Census, but I did not find John T. or Betsy). From the 1880 Carroll County Census (Lowell, 1163 G.M.D., pg. 35, June 19, 1880): #328: John T. Storey, 35, (he and all the family born in GA), Ludoxy, 33, wife, Febby, 8, dau., Mary A., 6, dau., Parson C., 4, son, Ida, 2, dau., Lualer, 6mos, dau. #329: George W. Storey, 34, (he and all family born in GA), Mary D., widow, 68, mother, Mary E., 32, step-sister, Elizabeth Robison, widow, 38, step-sister, Bessie Springer, 9, niece, Lewis Worthy, 18, black, servant. The Storeys seem to have spread east-to-west along the old McIntosh Trail (an ancient indian path), now Georgia Highway 5. Some were in Whitesburg and Rotherwood, others in Lowell and Roopville. I did find some additional info. on John T. Storey on Ancestry.com. The researcher there speculated that his mother was a Lands before she married. There are many Lands buried at New Lebanon. John T. Storey could also be buried there, but was not listed in the cemetary book. Brett Barnes Notify Administrator about this message?
