Forgot to tell you the Lodkey's can be found in Jefferson County in 1818, as Free Person's of Color. It appears they raised my great-great grandfather Charles Wig or
Wigg's. From the early census records it indicates Charles was born in Beaufort, South Carolina and entered Louisville, Georgia, Jefferson County in either 1804 or 1814.
I have been unable to determine if Charles was born to one of the Lodkey women. But census records indicate that Charles son Edward, my great grandfather list a Lodkey as an uncle. Charles married a woman named Polly Swan who was also listed as a Free Person of Color in Louisville, Jefferson County.
There is a connection between the Wigg's and Lodkey's. I have tried to find the birth mother of Charles Wigg's as well as his son Edward Wigg's. Polly Swan Wigg's is not the mother of Edward.
