Hello Betty Russell and all of you other frustrated Burke Co. researchers. James Johnston, Jr., was my ancestor. He got land in GA on the Altamaha River where it joins the Ogeechee (Ocmulgee?)anyway it's in Montgomery Co., GA. His land was bounty for his services as a Ga. Minuteman under Capt. Sham Thompson, Col. Samuel Jack. (Check the Montgomery Co. books.) He moved from there, where there were many other ex-M.Men, to Burke Co. His land was next to his good friend, and possibly relative, James JohnsOn, Sr. It is on Bark Camp Creek right outside of Midville, GA., today. I went down there by myself and drove all around the area of the Bark Camp Creek Church, and of Midville, but no ghosts were there.
Next installment after supper.
Beverly Shuler
