James B. Delk Sr.
James Benjamin Delk Sr., 77, of Stockbridge, died Sunday, December 29, 2002, at Ports Bridge Hospice in Conyers, following an extended illness.
Born in LaGrange on March 4, 1925, Mr. Delk was a son of the late Benjamin Holliman and Dera Foster Delk. He was a U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II. Mr. Delk was a retired automobile salesman and was of the Lutheran faith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Neal Delk.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2003, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by Rabun County D.A.V. Chapter #15 and Habersham County American Legion Post 84.
Mr. Delk is survived by his wife, Laverne Wilbanks Delk, Stockbridge; daughters, Melody Koppe, Palmetto, Trina Heath, Sharpsburg, Wendy Sheffield, Jonesboro, Melissa Markle, Marietta, Alison Zubach, Flowery Branch, Tina Parson, Baldwin, Lynn Meyer, Winterville, Hope Blankenship, Cornelia, Marlene McEntyre, Stockbridge, and Brittany Cole, Flovilla; sons, James Delk Jr., McDonough, and Jeff Martin, Lakeland, Fla.; sisters, Ruth Hunnicutt, North Carolina, Martha Campbell, Lincolnton, N.C., and Opal Purvis, Thomaston; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Mountaineer Shrine Club, P.O. Box 725, Cornelia, GA 30531.
The family was to have received friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Does anyone know who the father of James R. Jim Delk alias Benjamin Delk was? His wife was Caroline Harrell d/o Benjamin H. Ben & Belitha Tracy Balisen Balisa (Hogan) Harrell.
