This is an old post so I'm not sure you still need this info or may have already found it.

David J. Murray was the second husband of Sarah Emily Sheridan Garrison. She married him on September 24, 1865 in Gillsville, Banks County, Georgia. She was about 20 years old at the time of this marriage.

Her first husband was Caleb Christopher Garrison who died sometime earlier in 1865 from the measles while fighting in the Civil War. Caleb was at Knoxville, Tennessee at the time of his death.

It would be my guess that David Murray applied for letters of adminstration over Caleb Garrison's estate because Sarah was not yet 21 years of age and she had two small children from her marriage to Caleb Garrison. There may have been no other person of age to administer Caleb's small estate except for David Murray.

Hope this information helps a little.

Margie Garrison Scott
