Lamar-
You might already have this information--but try searching marriage records in Franklin County. Banks County was established in 1858--so if your folks married earlier than 1858, their records would not be Banks County records. Banks was created from parts of Franklin, Habersham, Jackson and Hall counties--the greatest portion being from Franklin County (which is, I think, adjacent to Elbert County). I know there is a volume of marriage records for Franklin County which covers the pre-Civil War era.
