Renee - Since you are also researching the Bates line, have you seen the book SLICES IN TIME by Charles C. Bates? It is written on the allied Bates families of Fuson, Barta, Bates and Shedd. I understand that two other Bates books had already been written, so this book contained info on other lines linked to the Bates. My line is William>John>William>Joel. It has good reseach on this line - probably two or three chapters.
