I have a different kind of puzzling question on the Furney family. Our first known stemfather from Ireland to the USA came to PA.He was b 1750 Dublin, Ireland (supposedly), son of Robert Gray and Wilson. He supposedly married a Nancy Furney, b abt 1750, MO.They were married in Pittsburgh, PA.He then married Mary Yarbo/Yarborough, abt 1776, Pittsburgh, PA and Mary migrated with Robert to Mt Edens, Shelby Co., KY by way of part of MD which became DE.The oldest child of Robert by Nancy was John Gray who stayed in DE and eventually went to Monroe, IN with his family. The second son of Robert and Nancy was James Samuel Gray.
What would cause Mr Furney to have been in MO and have a child/dren there and return to the Eastern States, specifically PA between the 1750 to 1776 period? One supposition would be he could have been a devoted military man who wanted to be where the heart of things were happening or a representative from MO to work on the Bill of Rights or Declaration of Independence.Have you any info or ideas on how to find more on this Nancy Furney?
Many thanks in advance.Betty Gray
