Long shot but as I noticed a statue of Mathew Furlong stands in Hartford which commemorates the shooting of Mathew Furlong in New Ross Ireland there may be a connection here.
My Great great grandmother was Mary Furlong of Templescoby from what I undestand this is where he grew up.
I know the family went to the States and through Nicholas furlong it is said to Galena Texas although this is not certain.
I believe a family associate with the surname white also went to the north west of America.
