I didn't read your message right, I see you are also wondering if Patrick could be a 4th brother. Did he go directly to PEI? What were his children's names?
I know that James was first in Miramichi, NB, I also know that the three brothers maintained a business relationship between NF, NS and NB.
Also, I can not confirm this yet but their mother's maiden name MAY have been STAFFORD. I also know that the brother's named their sons after each other, for example my g-grandfather (son of James) was James Peter Furlong.
