Hi , I am slammed up hard against a brick wall! I know my ggrandfather is John Wm. Furlong b.around 1810-30 in Wexford, he emigrated around 1855. My family records indicate he married a "Bridgit Malloy".However census records imply her name was actually Johana Furlong. They had four children John, Thomas, Catherine and Mary.Of these only John had children of his own. And my family line just gets narrower from there! There are no more male Furlongs after my Grandfather passed away in my line. So I am very anxious to continue his research. I simply cannot find any records to connect John and Johana. He doesn`t appear on any census records with her. She appears as a widow w/4 children in the 1880 census.I do, however beleive they settled first in Maryland or Virginia. I know they came through the Cumberland Gap to Boone County. If any of this rings a bell...I would appreciate ANY little tidbit. Thanks :)
