I have never heard of any Indian connection to the family. It would be interesting. What do you have on the family. I have that Lillie Viola was born Jan. 23, 1890 in Greenwood, Mo. and died Nov. 22, 1970 married Edward Franklin Gibson Nov. 10, 1906. He was born Oct. 1, 1884 in Blue Springs, Mo. and died Aug. 24, 1952. I show her with her parents in the 1900 Census and in the 1910,1920, 1930 Census with her husband and children in Lee's Summit, Missouri, Jackson County. Missouri. I have Edward 's death certificate. I have similar information Census and etc. of the other children of Benjamin Funston and Ellen Margeline Cline Funston. My grandmother was Anna Francis Funston and she married Wilmer Clay Hamilton. I have Benjamin's parents as James C. Funston and Nancy Warren both died in Bath County, Ky. I have James parents as a William Funston and a Rosina, last name Unknown, but no actual proof or other information. I have also seen that William Funston is the son of Nicholas Funston and Catherine Herald. Still looking for proof.
I am also looking for ancestors of Benjamin's wife Ellen Margeline Cline. I know her parents are Daniel D. Cline and Sarah Ann Wilsey. Daniel was born 1840 in Pittsfield Pike Co., Illinois. The son of Jacob Cline and Phoebe Lineback. I have information on Daniel and Sarah Ann's children, but hardly anything on Jacob Cline and not much on Phoebe. I have seen that Jacob is supposed to be the son of John Adam Cline, but I have no further information. I don't have anything on Phoebe Lineback or Liveback. As for the Wilsey's, Sarah's parents are James S. Wilsey and Nancy Wilsey both born in New York. James evidently moved around a lot and was married twice. First to Nancy Wilsey before 1833 and then Mary Nikirk Hawkins Feb. 25, 1847 in Tazewell Co., Illinois, widow of John Nikirk. John and Mary evidently died in Missouri. John is in the 1850 Census with Mary in Tazewell County, Illinois, 1860 Census Sullivan County, Missouri, 1870 census Tazewell County, Illinois and in 1880 in Bates County, Mo. I can't place him with any parents or Nancy either. In the 1880 Census James says he was born NY, his father born NY and his mother born Holland. Since we are both researching the same extended family, I would like to know what information you have and if you have any questions as to what I have feel free to ask. Would be glad to share. Do you have any pictures of the ancestors or any documents, wills etc. You can e mail me direct if you prefer.
