Hello Jim and George:
I couldn't resist logging in after George informed me of a certain Jim Mason asking about George Funk. Back in the early 80's I had ventured into researching on the Funk family history. By the way Jim, George and I are cousins -our fathers are brothers - although I still live in Manila, Philippines, while George and his family are Australian citizens. In fact, George was already born in Australia. My research took a spin in 2004 when I spent some time in the U.S. and was out of job. This meant I could spend 100% of my time doing the leg work and the interviews with surviving relatives. By July of 2007, I had completed my research and have started to write a book on the Funk history. Except that I had again started a new job last July 2007 and would have had to set aside this activity indefinitely. Most of cousin George's information are true and authenticated by U.S. gov't records which I have scutinized so meticulously. In fact most of what he has revealed have come from my research.
The only limitation of the studies I made is that it focuses on George William Funk's side of the tree. George William is one of the sons of George, son of Nicholas and Rebecca.
Julia Anne was married to LAWRENCE McIntyre who was from New York although his parents were both migrants from Ireland. In the nat'l census taken in 1900 (every 10 yrs actually) Their family was listed together with their children Carrie (b. Feb 1887), Mary (b.Dec. 1889) and Lawrence Jr., (b. Nov 1891). Julia Anne's next younger sibling also married a guy from New York and his fmaily name was Foley. Alice and her husband had 3 children who were Marian (b. Aug 1886) George W (b. Mar 1889) and Annie (b. Oct 1889). Alice and all her children were at George and Caroline Funk's residence in Rock Creek Church Road when the census was taken in June 8th 1900 taken by Campbell Gibson. Lawrence and Julia together with their children lived nearby or possibly within the 1 acre property of George's.
In case I find anything more in this regard, I will send both of you an email. Otherwise, when I finish my booik, you will be the first to know.
