I don't know if this is the correct one, but a George Washington Funderburk is listed in "Funderburk Castles and Conquests" by Dr. Guy Funderburk, pg. 181:

George Washington Funderburk, b. Sept 17, 1832, d. Sept 1895.
Married ?
George was born in Troupe Co., GA, but from c. 1837 to 1852 lived in Floyd Co. Afterward he probably moved to MS, where he appears to have enlisted in the Confederate Army, probably identified with "Funderburk, G.W., Co. C, Haris Reg., Cavalry, Miss, Pvt-Sarg." Family tradition claims that after the Civil War he moved from Washington, D.C. to Greenbrier, CO. Data on his family is incomplete and subject to error.

Children listed are:
1. William James , 2. Mary Ann, 3. John, 4., Nannie, 5. Sally, 6. Melissa, 7. Harriet
