Actually reseraching HUGGINS' family, but a deed recording which fell into my lap has my antennae twitching. I'm trying to determine the identity of WJ HUGGINS who sold a fifty acre tract of land to a JA Funderburk on 2 Oct 1899. Erasmus Avery and Erasmus Avery Sr. signed as witnesses to the transaction. Here's hoping that a FUNDERBURK researcher may have a tidbit of information to share. I have a WJ HUGGINS in my line, so this name in the deed popped out at me --- until I read his wife's name, that of Charlotte HUGGINS. My WJ HUGGINS (William Jabius, nicknamed Jabe) married Frances Elizabeth TOLSON of Darlington County, had been married to her at the time of this sale, and remained married to her until the time of his death some years later. sooooo..... Does anyone know this JA FUNDERBURK?? The property was part of the Drowdy Johnson tract in Steen Pen township, contained 50 acres, and was bordered "on the South by lands of TJ WILSON, on the West by the Crenshaw lands,on the North by Bateman (?) Branch up to a fork, coming out of said branch, on the East by lands of GW FREEMAN, the east line having been agree to by GW FREEMAN and WJ HUGGINS." Ideas? Suggestions? Aspirin??? Cindy ;-)
