The artical in "Portrait Biographical Album of De Witt and Piatt Counties, IL" doesn't actually state that Jacob's wife was Margaret Snodgrass. It states "Jacob Foulks was a farmer by occupation, carrying on his calling in his native State, and there he was married to a Miss Snodgrass, who was also a native of Virginia and was of German parentage. When they were old people Mr. and Mrs. Foulks moved to Ohio and died in Trumbull County when very aged." The article also states "David Foulks was one of 22 children, his father having been twice married, and he was the youngest child of the last marriage."
I assume because the article is actually about John M. Foulks, that this Miss Snodgrass is John's Grandmother. The article also tells us that two of David's 21 siblings where John and Andrew, and that they where soldiers in the Revolutionary War.
I am still trying to find my way through this puzzle. In an earlier post you said that Jacob Foulk Sr. born Berks County, PA was married to Margaret Foulk, daughter of a Peter Foulks. Could he have later married a Miss Snodgrass? And the porperty on Pharoah's Run was sold by Jacob Sr. and his second wife, not Margaret (1st wife)? I haven't come across anything that makes Miss Snodgrass a Margaret, at least yet.
It is all such a big puzzle and the variations in the spelling doesn't help much.
