In all due respect. It is known within the research and genealogy of the Fugate lines on various (Lines that is) the Fugates had Slaves on some of the lines. Some of these lines exist in Virginia and elsewhere.
Do realize however 'we are talking early American History Here' before slavery was abolished.A sensitive subject, however a fact Americans can't change from 'Old History' that is; we can't erase from those before us.
Thank God - Change has occured!So, you must realize Old Families who had Slavery - gave names to those servants in that Era!So, that does not mean necessary that they are related to you.You must study your lines closely to understand this.
The Fugates are ENGLISH and FRENCH from what Genealogist know and understand.
