This family line is very difficult to track - they kept moving, remarrying, and moving again.About 25 years ago there was a reunion of Fugates in OK, and many of them came from this line. The notes they left are about the only "facts" I have for the late 1800's individuals, but it gives you a place to start.
First the census connecting your Mollie.
1910 census, Marion Co. AR, Franklin Twp., ED 86, visit 99:
Mary L. Fugate, 31, wid.,b. MO; father b. KY, mother b. MO
George D., son, 11, b. MO, parents b. MO
MOLLIE D., dau, 9,""
Lucinda, dau, 6,"
__abe, son, 2,"(first letter could be "C" or "G", but it's unreadable.)
The "L" initial for Mary is very clear, and matches the same initial in the 1900 census.Perhaps she was the"Mary Lou"?Or the census taker mistook "Ellen" for "L".
In 1900, Marion Co. AR, household 40/41, Cedar Creek Twp., p. 42A:
Andrew J. Fugate, 26, b. Apr. 1874 MO, father b. VA, mother b. MO;married for 2 years
Mary L., wife, 21, b. May 1879 MO,f.b. KY, m.b. MO
George D., son, 2, b. May 1898 MO
It was very common for families from eastern TN and southwest VA to name sons "Andrew Jackson ___", and they were then usually called "Jack".
These two townships in Marion Co. AR are right on the MO line - looks like they are now under Bull Shoals Lake.
In 1900, Taney Co. MO (directly north of Marion Co.) there was a household headed by Sylvester Fugate. This man is known from other sources to have been born 27 Feb 1835 in eastern TN and died 15 Oct 1919 in Briston, OK.According to descendants, he married 4 times, and had a total of 23 children.Since he lived in areas where it was easy to avoid the census taker, we do not have a documented list of his children, but those provided were: (I have added info from the census.)
By wife #1 (married in TN): 3 children, names unknown
By wife #2: Jeff and Carrie. No other info.
By Nettie McCarty, wife #3:JACK; Mollie, b. 1876 MO; Barbra, b. 1878 AR;Phoebe, b. 1881;Addie, b. 1884; Ves (Sylvester), b. 1885 MO;Pink (f), b. 1886 AR[The children from Mollie to Pink are listed in the 1900 census of Taney Co. MO - note that "Andrew J." was born in 1874, and fits the "Jack" above.]The wife in the 1900 list of this family was named "Talitha", and she and Sylvester had been married for 5 years, she said that she hadn't had any children yet, but see next list.
By wife #4, Talitha Risley:Wm. McKinley, b. 1897 MO (no explanation for why Talitha stated she hadn't had any children.);Ruben, b. 1898 MO;Velma, b. 1901 MO;Elvis;Jonnie (f), 1905 MO;Claud, 1908 MO;Jeff;Opal;Vesta.
You should center you search on Marion Co. AR and Taney Co. MO to find out more about Andrew "Jack", who seems to have died about 1907/10.
Sylvester was the son of William Fugate and Patsy Nunn.William was b. 1818 in Wythe Co. VA.He and his family can be found in the 1840 census of Claiborne Co. TN, the 1850 census of Richland Co. IL (showing Sylvester), 1870 and 1880 Green Co. MO.William married twice and is said to have had 12 children. We have located most of them. His second wife was named Lucinda. William died before 1900.
William was the son of Francis Fugate, b. 1776, and his wife Caledonia.Francis lived in Wythe, later Pulaski, Co. VA and died there after 1860 (when he was 84 years old.)
Francis was a son of Randolph Fugate and his wife Charity.Randolph died in Wythe Co. in 1814.Randolph was the son of Randolph Fugate and Maryan Deelwood. That Randolph, born about 1715/20 is listed in the will of Josias Fugate who died in King George Co. VA in 1757.Josias' wife was Mary Martin.
