Hey Rosa Maria, It has been awhile, hope all is fine with you and yours. I was in Tucson this past weekend visiting my mom. She has some new info on nana Guadalupe Fuentes and I think you are really going to love it. I have made copies of the originals for you to keep and would like to mail them to you, but of course I do not have your address. I really think you should see these. Remember I told you the story told to us as children by my Nana Maria. The story was: Nana Guadalupe Lujan Fuentes had hired two Caballeros to escort her and her three daughters, one being my Great Nana Refugio fuentes,(Pedros sisters) to Hillsbourough in Sierra County, apparently Nana Guadalupe was going to open up a mercantile store there. As they were stoping to camp for the night the caballeros had just unhitched the horses from the wagon that contained all of Nana Guadalupes possessions. Right at that time some Apaches started to attack them. One of the Caballeros put Guadalupe on one of the horses, the other jumped on his horse, in the process of grabing and pulling one of the daughters on the horse with him, while the other one grabed the other daughter onto his horse. During all of this all horses were at a run. Now I am not sure which daughter was running on foot trying to catch up with the horses, but she was able to grab one of the horses tail with both hands and the caballero reached back and grabed her by the hair on her head while she held on to the horses tail dragging along behind the horse. Keep in mind the horses were running hard to get away from the Apaches, which they did, but in the event Nana Guadalupe lost the wagon w/all her possessions. She returned to Mexico and left Refugio and her two sisters at the Loredo Academy Convent in Las Cruces or Mesilla? She later went back for them when she was able to.

Anyways my Prima was able to aquire the original documents of this event and your Grandpa Pedro is mentioned on them. If you would like to have them send me an address so thatI can mail them to you! Also do you think we can have copies of any documents of Tio Pedro and all of his siblings anything that could help us find out more info on them and our background. My mom, Nina Varela Talavera and I have discussed the possibilty of taking a trip to visit with you and share all that we have and know of the family history, think about it o.k. My mom would like you to call her so you both can talk and share the history, that is if it is something you would like to do. I to would like to hear from you and meet you at some time in the future. My Mom's # (520)762-5293, her name is Nina. My address is 11236 Beachfront El Paso, Texas 79936. Phone # (915)599-1430 Cell# (915)549-3139. I still have had no luck in finding out where my Nana Refugio was born, but I was thinking, If Pedro was born in Ysleta, Tx. wouldn't my Nana also have been born there ?

Take Care and Hope to hear from you soon. Joanna Talavera Lopez
