Thank you for such a prompt reply to my question, and I'm sorry I wasn't able to ask it more clearly or if I posted it on the wrong forum.
Truth is, I'm not exactly sure who I should ask it of, other than people who used the old Family Tree Maker website (I believe address was: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/)
I could go to that site, search for a particular name, ie. "Equilla BURNS" and it would pull up various records, including users Home Pages where that name, spelled that exact way (Equilla Burns) was mentioned.
But what made the FTM website very useful was you could go to a box on the left side of the screen and click on a button to pull up EVERYBODY with the last name of BURNS that was mentioned in any genealogy website, online records, user pages,...etc.
The first names were given alphabetically, and included every possible spelling variant(Equila, Equillah,Aquilliahetc...),misspelling or typo (like "qEuilla")
I don't know how else to describe it, except to say it was surprisingly useful, and I've never seen that function available on any other site, except the old FTM.
If this is the wrong forum, perhaps you could suggest a better one for me to post on that is used by people who would be more familiar with the old FTM before it joined Genforum, Ancestry.com, etc..
