Thank you for responding Russ. I should have stated that I installed FTM 16 from the installation CD, not downloaded. The information I downloaded was on a CD that I had backed up. I think I might have just answered my own question. If the back up CD I used to download my genealogy information on the reinstalled FTM program was not a writable CD, would that effect future back ups? When I back up I just go to the back up command on FTM. I have Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3. I tried to back up to "D" Drive, that is my CD drive. I do not have the exact words that the message said, other than I didn't have authorization. I wish I new more about computers. I'm feeling like I need one of those books for Dummy's! Can you please tell me where I should have posted my questions, rather than this site? Thank you so much for your patience and guidence!
