In case it might help some one, there was a Dr. Samuel Frye living in the province of new Brunswick in the 1840s. The entry , from "Acts of the General Assemby of Her Majesty's Province of New Brunswick, passed in the year 1840", reads thus: "To Doctor S. Frye, the sum of one hundred pounds, being for services rendered in Vaccinating at Saint Andrews, and attendance on Emigrants and poor persons during the late prevalence of Small Pox." The next entry is also of interest: "To Thomas Wyer, Harris Hatch, Samuel Frye and John McLachlan, Esquires, formerly Directors of the Savings Bank at Saint Andrew, the sum of two hundred and seventy nine pounds three shillings and ten pence to relieve them from the responsibilites occasioned by the defalcation of the Cashier of that Institution."
