If anyone is related to the following Fry(e) family, Please Email. I'd like to exchange information. I have descendants and some photos of the descendants/families.
"According to family legend, James Carrol Fry had to flee Pennsylvania, leaving his wife (___ Woodward or Woodard)and two children, James Robert Fry
and Lavinia Fry behind.
The wife supposedly died and the children were placed into an orphange. Pendleton "Penn" Pullen was supposed to have ridden a train in the middle of the Civil War to Pa. (some family sources say West Va.),fetched both children home to Va."
**This is unconfirmed legend. A recent msg and info I saw also suggests James C. Fry was married to a Mary Jenkins in Rappahnnock Co, Va. They had a child,
but were divorced.
WHAT IS KNOWN:
James Carroll Fry married Pendleton
"Penn" Pullen's sister, Frances Pullen.
His son, James Robert Fry later married Emily
"Emma" Jane Pullen, daughter of Pendleton & Emily Jane
(Hill)Pullen (niece of his step-mother, Frances(Pullen) Fry).

"James Robert Fry owned a horse named
Major. When James Robert died, he was
buried on a knoll by the homestead he
and his family built. It's now located
within the Shenandoah Nat.'l Park, near
Sperryville, Va. The tombstone still
stands.
