Hello- I am looking for my great-grandmother's maternal grandparents. Mary Malvina Hicks' mother died at her baby's birth in April of 1863, probably in Jackson County, Tennessee (not positive about county but definitely Tennessee). Mary's father was Oliver Hicks (per death certificate and family memory) but I can find no record of their marriage. She was reared by her grandparents (Fry, Frey, Frye). I've been unable to locate her in any census, whether named Hicks or Fry. In 1881 she married John Lawrence Nichols in Clay County, Tennessee. They eventually moved to Indian Territory where Mary died in 1930. Was she part of your family? Any information about Mary Malvina hicks would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Dana
