I don't know where the Fryes first came to, or what ship they took to get there, but I wonder if they didn't come to Saltville because Elizabeth Montgomery Frye had relatives here in the Saltville area--there are lots of Montgomerys around, and some of them are said to have came to the US from N.Ireland...
That's just a guess of a ghost of a possibility, but it could be worth looking into.
