Fryes in California by way of Kansas (?)

Hey. I'm doing preliminary research on my family; unfortunately, I know precious little beyond my grandfather's generation. I just want to know more about where I came from, the characters who populate my tree, hear a few stories to keep our name alive. It's comforting to see so many of us here.

Here's what I know: My grandfather's name was Lawrence Frye. He passed away in 1999 in Lebanon, Oregon (the memorial service was quite nice). He grew up in Baldwin Park, California, which much of my family still pridefully considers home. He was the son of Verna and--I think (shame on me, for Grandpa spoke glowingly of him)--Benjamin Frye. I knew Verna well--just wish I could remember her many vivid stories. She died around Thanksgiving 1988. Benjamin, sadly, left us in 1949, long before I was born. (He did, however, live to witness the birth of my aunt Nancy.) Lawrence had a younger brother, Lowell (still living), and two sisters, Vada (deceased--strong-willed, she) and Doris.

Outside of this, I know little. I've met a few other Fryes over the years, but we seem to be scattered like the wind and our reunions are few.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Cory Frye
