...I, too, am descended from John Frye from Ireland. My great -grandfather was Lilburn, a son of John Frye (the second, so to speak) also known as Dandy (a nickname for him but some of his descendants were actually named Dandy..that has led to some confusion for different people tracking the lineage.

I was born in Saltville in 1940 and lived there several years.
I have accumulated much documented history of the Frye family and Saltville, and have original photos of Dandy and many other family members.

I am trying to get more information about what brought John Frye the first .. (Fry at the time?) from Ireland to Saltville in the first place and by what route and set of circumstances along the way.

As I often say to people, one doesn't just wake up one morning in Ireland and say "I think I'll move to Saltville, Virginia". Thanks for your reply. If you can shed any more light and the very early Frye migration to Va. I'd appreciate it. I'd be happy to share any material I have with you as well.
