Just doing some catching up on the Frye line to see what new been posted on it. Two things caught my attention about your message...
First came here looking for updates on a James Frye of Nansemond County Virginia sold a section of land in 1721 to my ancestor.
Second my ancestor is Francis Harrell of Nansemond Virigina.
Still keeping checking for new input on Frye but have a great deal on the Harrell family jungle..
Francis Harrell basicly lived south of current Suffolk City Virginia in the area of Dismal Swamp down toward Albemarle Sound in North Carlina. He died between will filed in 1759 and proved in 1763 in this area; as will today filed in Bertie North Carolina. Will indicated his wife was Mary and list several children in it... Don't have on hand the complete list of them but mains ones I've been working on are Francis (of Johnston NC), John (of Wayne NC), and Jacob (of Saint Johns Parish SC) as they tended to be the ones sent their descendents from the Virginia and North Carolina areas to where my most recent relatives live, in Georgia just after 1800.
So far have found limited information on the Frye lines before 1800 and haven't done much digging into them after this date. At this time mainly trying to verify old family history around Levi Harrell RS/I/SR 1750-1806 son of Jacob Harrell 1734-1787 son of Francis Harrell (of Nansemond). Note here that I add the (of Place) with each common first name to sort of help sort one common first name from the other in this family jungle.. Also have found the Harrell men prefered women to have simple common first names like Sarah, Elizabeth, and Mary... adding to the confusion later on about who was who.
Levi Harrell RS had four main sons...
Levi Harrell Jr 1777-1865 wed an Elizabeth Holt
Asa Harrell 1779-1862 wed an Elizabeth Keen
Francis Harrell 1781-1850 wed an Elizabeth Owen
William Harrell 1784-1867 wed a Mary Katherine Bass
All of these had daughter named Elizabeth and yes William named one Catherine and another Mary..
Anyway contact me off this board as would like to know what branch of the Harrells you swinging on.
