Alot of info to follow. In 1806 Giles County was organized from Montgomery; and from Giles, descendants of George Fry began their move in the early 1800's to what is now Wayne, Logan, Lincoln, Mingo and Cabell Counties of WV. John Frye Ship Abigaile in 1620 lists John Frye as one of the person having sailed from England and arriving in Virginia in 1620. John First lived on the Eastern Shores of Virginia then moved in 1621 to Flower Dew Hundred, a plantation area on the south side of the James River near modern day Hopewell, VA. John's brother Henry had land holdings at this settlement. He is listed among the dead at Flower Dew Hundred in 1622. John's children were George ca1622, John ca1620, Mary ca1618 and Benjamin ca1616. (Not sure if all children were born in VA or some in England)
JohnII appears in New Kent, St. John's Parish in 1686, had land holdings and interest in Rappahanock County. Children were George Peter Frye ca1656; Henry ca1658; Virginia Elizabeth Ann ca 1690. George Peter had 6 children: John ca1682; Henry ca1684; Martha ca1685; Mary ca1686; Christina ca1689; and Elizabeth Anne ca1690. John Peter moved to his father's land holdings in Augusta County, VA. In 1710 he married Catherine French. Their children were: William Henry ca1715, John II ca1718; Mary Elizabeth ca1724; George Peter ca 1725/6; and Catherine Susan ca1729 The 1700s get confusing because of the many different Fry/Frye families in VA. There were Fry/Frye families already in the Shenadoah Valley, VA when George Peter, ca1726, appeared in Augusta County records. (I have a list of the dead at Flowerdew Hundred if you need it but John's death had nothing to do with the massacre of 1622.) It is assumed that some of John Fry who came to the Colonies in 1620 had some descendants who moved northwest form the eastern shore of Virginia to Frederick County. There was an entry with his name on it in George Losh's will of Philadelphia City and County written Jan 20, 1729. About 1790 George Frye and others were appointed executors of the estate in the place of John Fry. Benjamin Fry (assumed son of John Fry or a descendant) was a landholder in Frederick County in 1750. George Fry I (1725-1792) Soldier of the American Revolution An Early settler of the New River Valley, VA (Botetourt, Fincastle, Montgomery - today's Giles County) George Fry (1) b 1725-26 d 1793 A Monument in Giles County VA includes George Fry Sr and Jr as Rev War Soldiers...In defense of the colonies, under the command of General Andrew Lewis, George Fry Sr & Jr were in the first conflict with the allies of the English. It is not part of VA public record due to General Lewis' branch of the army was mostly recruited enroute to Camp Union.
