I am not related so I know nothing about these people. (I do know that Magune is not a Swedish name.)

I posted this information in a different part of this thread.

http://genforum.genealogy.com/frisch/messages/105.html

It would help us try to help you if you could provide better birthdates for these people, as suggested before.

There is no Bastad in Sweden, but there is a Båstad parish in Kristianstad county. I see four Sofia hits leaving from Båstad parish and born in the 1860s. One was born in 1861 so maybe she is yours. (However, she was not born in Båstad parish. She had just lived there when she decided to emigrate. When you say she was "from Bastad", it is not clear whether she was born there or lived there.) I hope you will try to find her maiden name in a different source or at least try to find her full birthdate, when she came to the U.S., and so forth.

Emibas CD:

Emibas was made from registrations in the Swedish parish to go to a foreign country. It is about 75% complete.

Emibas is only about 75% complete.

Örebro is both a city (with several parishes and records were kept in the parish) and a county, with hundreds of parishes.

Emibas doesn't list any Bertel with the information you provided, so either he isn't listed on Emibas (since it is not complete) or else (more likely), he is one of the MANY who left Sweden with a patronymic name and only later adopted a surname.

You can look through the Örebro Emigrants Database. Download this information into a spreadsheet, such as Excel. (There are explanations of the Swedish column headings at the bottom of the linked page.) Don't use Immigrants, which is for those moving back into Örebro. You need Emigrants (moving out).
