Chaplins of South Carolina and North Carolina about 1750

I am looking for a connection between the North Carolina and South Carolina Chaplins. John and William Chaplin were in SC around 1750. John died in 1752 and the land grant he had obtained in 1750 in Currituck, NC went to his heir William in 1752. Are the connected? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Stuart
