I just recently learned that my 3 great grandmother was the daughter of Martinus and Jannetje (Wintersteen) Fries. Maria was born 9 Mar 1782, baptized 14 Apr 1782 in Knowlton, (Sussex/Warren Co), NJ. Maria married Samuel Read. Maria and Samuel Read are buried at Union Brick Cemetery, Blairstown Twp., NJ. One source has Maria's death as 23 Dec 1866 and the newspaper has the 28th of Dec. I have a picture of the tombstone but is very diffcult to read so perhaps the 8 looks like a 3. I believe that Martinus Fries is buried at Knowlton Presbyterian Churhyard, Warren Co., NJ.
If anyone has more info on Martinus and Jannetje I would love to hear from you.
