"Fries" John was born in Buffalo, Nov 24, 1846. He came to Allegany with his parents in 1852 and settled on a farm on the Four Mile Road. He a soldier in the Civil War, serving in Company H. 188th New York Volunteers. On June 16, 1866 he married Elizabeth Messer. There children were 1- Margaret; 2-Annie (married a miller) 3- Mary (married a Guilman); 4-Elizabeth, died in house fire; 5- Joseph (josie), married Mary Suiter. John Fries ws a conductor on the streetcar line from Allegany to Rock City!!

my grandfather was John Fries and he had 4 children David, Gary, Linda, Ronnie
