My family came to New Orleans from Bavaria, my great-great-great grandfather Carl Friedrichs was a doctor/ dentist, and received an honorary doctorate from Loyola University- New Orleans for donating to build the dentistry school. I currently am a student at Loyola New Orleans, and have the original plaque of my ancestor's honor. I also acquired his obituary, where it lists his children (which I know were several), and his death-by-streetcar, but as of now, the listing is at home in St. Louis.

My great grandfather, Carl Friedrichs Sr., moved away from New Orleans when he remarried, but upon his death, returned to be buried in the family crypt in Metairie cemetery. His son, my grandfather, currently Carl Friedrichs Jr., moved to Texas and married. His children, my aunts and uncles, are now currently around the US.

This is the only Friedrichs lineage I have discovered that has 1) come from Bavaria specifically, and 2) began in America in New Orleans. Upon request, I will find the obituary, and maybe it will give more clues.
