According to the latest archeological findings, the Friedrich from Northern Bohemia could be the most ancient glassmaking dynasty in the world. At the end of the Medieval Period they founded a glasswork in Oberkreibitz, close to their original glasswork in Friedrichsdorf, that was to become a most important spot of the Renaissance glass industry. From there the Friedrich are spread throughout Europe and to the USA. Now the German historian Walter A. Friedrich, a descendant of the medieval glass-masters, wrote a comprehensive chronicle of the Friedrich family and of the history of glass making in Northern Bohemia.
